Easter,Easter Everywhere!

It was Easter on Sunday but I felt like it just passed me by.  So now here
I sit, on the hunt again for another job (okay not really hunting that
much...but am hoping the phone will ring) and looking for a couch seeing as
my roommate just moved out. I think I have a lead on a couch from Ikea
(which is also a sofa bed) so I'm hoping all is good there. On Saturday Night
I went to a Birthday party for a friend of mine and she held this party in a
house that literally looked like a castle. It's in the Hollywood hills and it
was very interesting to look at. This same weekend I got involved with a
staged reading of a play called "The Refugee Hotel" by Carmen Aguirre. We
had two days of rehearsal at the Mark Taper Forum and on the 2nd day
(which was Easter) we performed it at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. It's weird
because I can usually just do a reading and that's it, it's over...but this
one has stayed with me. It was just such a powerful play and of course the
fact that pretty much everything that is in the play is autobiographical, you
would be amazed at how brave this woman Carmen Aguirre is. The story was
set in 1974 and she was one of the 1st families to have fled Chile and come
to stay at this hotel in Vancouver. I was struck with what her family went
THRU back in Chile, and by them having to readjust to living in a whole new
country. I don't know, I think that the things people go THRU  give you a
whole other outlook on your life. It makes me a little embarrassed to have
worried about some of the things I've worried about after hearing what
happened to them. I know now that I am much more informed of a period in
life that I had NO CLUE about, but was so important. I hope they do
another reading or get it on a stage in a "full version" it needs to be seen by
people.
