IT WAS FUN IN NEW YORK, BUT SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL
SATAN...HE GOTS TO GO!!
I just got back this last week from a KICKASS time in NYC. On Monday
night the 17th I went to the premiere of LADY IN THE WATER at the
Natural History Museum. I managed to brave the 100 degree heat at 7pm
and walk the BLUE CARPET (special for the movie) with the other ladies who
played my sisters. I was practically melting when we got interviewed by VH1
and when the hostess asked if we had any "Red Carpet tips" I said "Yea,
don't look like me right now!" It was super fun to get to see everyone again,
and to finally see the movie for the first time. By the way IT'S NOT
SCARY!! And it's not meant to BE scary (I just think some advertisers
really need to be FIRED for saying it is) Just to let you gauge HOW scary
it is on a scale of one to ten (ten being Hostel...one being Annie)...I am a
total HORROR MOVIE LOVER!! SO I'm at a "10" my friend Elena who went
with me to the premiere finds the ending of Neverending story
troubling...she will be a "1" she saw "Lady" with me, and walked out of the
theatre NOT SCARED AT ALL!! Giving it a ONE (although she said she would
have to think about it later when she goes to bed...but since I got no
reports of bad dreams we're in the clear!!)
The After party was held in the Museum in the HALL OF OCEANS. It was
HUGE! It was like being in a big rave or something. I was elbow to elbow
with people forever! But I did manage to find friends and say hello. I lost
my poor friend Elena at one point in the start of the evening due to the fact
that I was trying to find a table for us...it was that crazy in there. After
my text to her that read "I'm under the whale" (no joke, see the pics) I
finally stopped moving, found a table and she ended up finding me. We took
pictures with the "scary element of the movie" and with various people and
actors from the movie and just kicked back. Let me take this moment now
to tell you how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! Freddie Rodriguez!. He is such a
SUPER SWEETHEART! (and so damn FUNNY in the movie) I went up to him
at the after party to get a pic and he gave me such a big hug and kiss and
told me how he saw Nacho Libre and how HI-LARIOUS I was in it. But it
wasn't just that, later on in the night he met my friend Elena and made
sure to look her in the eye and say how nice it was to meet her (I
understand this usually falls under a normal person's definition of "manners"
but you don't know how few people follow that rule! In my business) After
the AFTER PARTY we were invited to have drinks at a place called "The
Spotted Pig" ( a cute British pub somewhere in NY...it was 1am, someone
shoved me in a cab, I went) M. Night, Freddie, and most of the cast and
crew went there and M. Night still being the TOTALLY cool person he was
picked up the tab for all of us. Just Cause. Pretty cool. I made it back to
my hotel room round' 3:30am and pretty much passed out. (not from booze!)
Tuesday was a fun day to catch up with people I hadn't seen in YEARS!!
Literally!! I met up for Lunch with a good friend at the Time Warner Bldg in
Columbus Circle. I had never been there and I thought it was such a cool
place to meet up. First of all it was AIR CONDITIONED! Second it looked
kinda like a mall but the whole bottom floor was a Whole Foods Market. Jen
and I went up to the top level and had a little bit of lunch in this café with
huge windows so you could see out onto Columbus Circle and we talked
FOREVER about life, and just catching up on people and things we hadn't
talked about in a long time. It's funny because I remember looking for her
when she first moved to NY, but I had no idea where she was staying so
after awhile I gave up. It took MYSPACE to find her again (SO SUCK IT!!
All you people who condemn MYSPACE it brings people TOGETHER!!) It was
so great seeing her, and we promised it wouldn't take SIX YEARS to talk
again. Hopefully it won't! I also got to reconnect with another great friend I
had years ago, Chad. I actually got to meet up with him for a little bit on
Monday before the premiere (at Olive Garden...the restaurant that brings
lives together! ) but we got to catch up more on Tuesday and just relax and
have fun (cuz I had nowhere to be) We went and had Dinner at Planet
Hollywood (gratis, because of my "movie star status", thanks Chad!! And oooh
that rhymed) Then caught an early show of the BROADWAY MUSICAL "THE
WEDDING SINGER" (Not the best pick of a show I've made in awhile...but
it was fun and all 80's up none the less)
There was this freak thing that happened after the show. It was around
9:30pm when it let out and it had been HOT and humid all day. It was
suddenly hot and windy and my friend Chad said "oh it's gonna rain at any
moment" and no joke, 30 seconds later the sky OPENED UP! And god was
UGLY MAD!! There was crazy thunder, lightening , and RAIN, RAIN, RAIN!!
We got caught under one of the marquees and just stood there and let this
crazy Tsunami pass us by. For me though, it was kinda scary at one point
and it took about 20 minutes before we decided that it was okay enough to
just walk in the rain back to my hotel. We trudged along in hot, rainy
weather back to my hotel. When we got in the lobby though it was cold from
the Air conditioning, and we just sat there and talked a little more before
he had to leave. My friend Mari who I was staying at the hotel with,
actually wanted to go back out and see a comedy show. I think the fact
that she wanted to leave the hotel was a COMEDY in itself...but she ended
up staying in seeing as it was close to 11pm and we had to be packed and
back on our way to the airport at 5am. I said goodnight to my friend Chad
and promised him as well that we'd keep in touch. Between my friends
Elena, Jennifer, and Chad (all from NY whom I never see) it was a GREAT
TRIP!! I ended up get CRAZY sick when I got home Weds (still recouping) but
it was well worth it!!
This Lady is TIRED! Peace
